Eu, I figured that I'd wait till it's finished before lavishing out compliments in buckets Wink

It's looking Vadimish so far, but will reserve final judgement when you finish Smile

£876.51 so far with Vadim... plus £100 on the first motherboard that I am swapping before the end of the project and £34 on the OCZ memory that I removed from the spec... add £100 for the CPU... I hope the issue I am having is with motherboard... Rolling Eyes

£1,110.51

Case is an old case I had and the PSU was unnecessary but a good move.

Well, some more costs to that but not now. Just to let you guys know that I am currently setting up my new machine on a 64bit ultimate Vista build and with a couple of niggles.

I found out that if I leave my Samsung 750Gb in the ICY Dock it all works. If I put any of the 120Gb HDDs it just stalls... hmmm that was the problem I had before and I had done the same unsuccessfuly. Even so it is now a consistent thing.

When I get around getting it all running and good with it I will post more pics though it doesn't look much different except the board is slightly different and decided to splash on a Creative Titanium... Embarassed Laughing Rolling Eyes

Well, I had tried booting up with only one hdd and out of the ICY Dock before I went on a buying spree... and had the same sort of problems.

I am downloading some testing software as well as 3D Mark Vantage Pro so that I can test most of the machine and see its performance. It is the first time I am stable in the PC and it is since last night.

Still trying to understand what the hell is happening. It feels I have gremlin that is eluding me.

I am now looking at testing severely my new HDD (samsung F1 750Gb... ) any good software suggestions? Smile

Thanks but that doesn't work in Vista 64... quite limiting really, having a 64bit system.

Edit: Wow... just tried downloading and installing the "GeForce ForceWare 177.41 Vista (64-bit)" drivers and it says its 32bit Very Happy

I have 2x120Gb HDDs that I was hoping to re-use. One of them is knackered as it seems.

Whenever I connect it the PC just dies. Funny as I had never seen anything like it. Usually when you have an HDD with problems the PC boots up and works normally with the exception it can't read or write in the disk... so far, everytime I connect this particular one the PC starts throwing woblies... Shocked . I need to check this better but I am really surprised. The funny thing is that I had tried just the 750Gb with the previous mobo. Rolling Eyes . This has been the strangest thing I have ever seen.

More later or another day.. at least I can start the PC and have now all drivers in and working.
