Well just rebooted and still seems a bit slower than normally... I seem to have "trustedinstaller.exe" running whenever i bootup whenever i end the process things speed up i've checked msconfig and it isnt in the startup list so bit weird....
msconfig should show any programs that startup with vista but as its a core module it might be buried under services instead. I did some searching and it sounds like trustedinstaller.exe is also microsofts spyware that does checks on your computer... especially after weird behaviour like i've been having it wants to check im still running a legal copy.
I'll continue trying to work with this today so far no blue screens and the only thing thats worrying is the slow performance on bootup but as i said it seems to work its self out after trustedinstaller.exe dissapears
Ok full defrag, log clearing, reg cleaning the complete works done on the pc... it appears to be faster on bootup now so fingers crossed thats the end of it. I just wonder if I'll ever be able to install SP1 :/
cool, good to hear!
we had some problems when installing SP1 on a used OS install. If you do a complete reinstall, then apply the SP, you should be fine
Yeap... Vista just offered me a small 300kb update to do with USB stuff and I allowed it.... restarted the pc and it brought up the damn SP1 installation screen in bios!! argh lol
Thankfully it went to stage 2 and 100% then went back into loading Vista
Sabaoth - this really sounds a shocker. Very sorry mate.
Pls advise what MoBo you have, and which network adapter you are using. Someone further up the thread (sorry, don't recall) mentioned a known issue caused by network adapter and was wondering...
