I finally got round to switching on my lovely new Vadim Custom Fusion-CS-Intel-775G2 system 41667 on Saturday and it goes like a dream. The only thing I couldn't get to work was my headset, a Sennheiser PC350. It has 2 3.5mm jacks, one for mic, one for sound and I know that the sound works (tested on another system). I've tried a USB mic on the new system and that works, and the speakers work just fdine. However, plugging the headset headphone jack into the speaker system desktop control produces no sound and plugging mic and headphone jacks into the ports on the front of my case (Cosmos S) produces no sound.
So, I'm sure there is something really obvious to anyone with an ounce of sense that I am not doing. Ideas anyone, please?
I use Vista with the motherboard connections for audio, when switching from normal cables to optical connections, I have to set whatever one as default before it enables sound.
As for my headphones they are plugged into the logitech control box which just changes to produce sounds via headphones when plugged in.
New to Vista, right click the sound icon (bottom right) and select playback options.

Do you get sound when connecting to the jacks on the back of the system?
I do get sound when plugging the headphone jack into the back of the system (which is a big step in the right direction-thanks). I'd like to be able to keep the speakers plugged in at the back and switch between speakers and headphones without having to haul the case out and plug my headset into the back, if atall possible.
I have just spoken to your engineer and he has told me that unfortunately your sound card does not have a connection on it with which to connect a front panel. wish there was something more I could do
EU Was it you who mentioned that you have installed XP3, if so how is it going? any major problems?
No... still using it and no problems. At one point I thought I had one with the fans and watercooling stuff starting after a shutdown but I think it is either the iMon or the T-Ban getting crazy but as the PC is going to be disassembled as soon as my new project finishes... not going to be bothered.
