I honestly think those kind of sentences are shocking. Murderers and rapists can get a quarter of that length of time in prison... are hackers really more of a risk to society? Seems more like they're always "made an example of" when they get caught.

Indeed, granted hackers do present a security risk but for the majority hacking is more to cause an inconvenience than to damage lives.

It's a shame that rapists and murderers get such low sentences

Thats because the UK adheres to the human rights policy sham....
At least America has its sentencing/punishments right....

I must disagree... its the entire western europe going soft and mixing human rights with incapable politicians and law inforcement... I wouldn't like to live in most places of the US. Life there is worthless unless you have money and power.
