It is with great regret to inform you all, that unfortunatelly, at this moment in time we can not recommend OCZ to our customers for 2 reasons:
1) For the past few months we have observed an unusually high DOA (dead on arrival) and failing the stress tests rate and our attempts in mitigating the problem ended with no results. We tried our best to alert the OCZ management, but we could see no improvement on the situation. The last incident that triggered our current decision was an RMA for 2 dead on arrival DDR3-1600 4GB kits that was sent to OCZ for testing/inspection on the 28th of May and today their message was that unfortunatelly due to the backlog of RMAs, our kits did not get looked at.

2) We found a few high end DDR3 kits that do not run at the speeds written to run at. Probably some forum members that have tried the memory separatelly on their own systems can confirm that too.
Normally the replies from OCZ were that Asus needs to release a new BIOS as this is a different type of memory, etc...
To be more specific, our attempts to run their DDR3-2000 on anything higher than 1800 ended up with errors or not working at all. We did spend a considerable ammount of time to tweak the voltage/timings/settings on the maximus extreme and p5e3 boards and the system just didnt like that memory. As soon as we tried a competior's memory - the situation changed - the memory was working at 1860 and better timings, so clearly the motherboard wasnt to blame. OCZ reply to the situation was that they need to get the maximus extreme board from Asus and will get the memory to work and help us too. 2 weeks later and we still had no contact from OCZ regarding the situation.

At this moment we have quite a few orders that require DDR2000 2Gb kits and DDR1600 4gb kits and we wouldnt like to sell anything to our customers that is missrepresented in terms of what it does.

Untill such time when OCZ does provide a solution to the above problems, we have no choice but to recommend other vendors memory and namelly G.Skill and Cellshock. We have already added to our Custom PC configuration utilities both these brands, including the DDR3-1800 CL7 G.Skill 2Gb kits, DDR1600 CL7 4Gb kits and cellshock DDR3-1860 2Gb kits as well as G.Skill 8Gb DDR800 kits (yes, that is 2x4Gb kits which could make a total of 16Gb of ram in a desktop board)

We hope that OCZ will take action and look into their quality control procedures as we have been very pleased with their memory in the past and we would love to see again OCZ delivering what they once did best - outstanding performance and reliability memory.

Shame to see especially as OCZ has an awsome reputation and I myself have 8GB of OCZ's DDR2 ram, I hope they sort out their DDR3 ram so you can start recomending it again!

True - its a shame indeed. But on the other hand, G.Skill is an excellent brand that normally comes first to the market with new products.

waiting for OCZ DDR2 memory for a week now... ordered on 02/06. Poor willima is doing what he can but OCZ are a victim of their own success I would say. Any possibility that Vadim can place 2x2048Mb kits from other manufacturers at close price ranges on DDR2?

That's a shame but it is very understandable and wise choice you have made Vincent . I myself have 8gb of OCZ Reaper and before that i had 4gb of OCZ FlexX kitt and have had a few issues ( which resulted in my upgrade to the 8 gb ). Like you said lets hope OCZ sort these issues out , but like you said Vincent G Skill is also a great brand to !

Thanks... I just noticed his reply. Don't know if the G.Skill are better or worse... I wanted to have the reapers also for aestetics Mr. Green Embarassed as I know they are good to start with. But if a company cannot deliver it may alos not support in case of problems... that's a bit worrying.

Sad

I don't personally have any bias with regards to RAM brands, all of those alternatives mentioned will produce excellent memory.

Memory issues aside, I'm once again extremely impressed by Vadim and the attitudes of their staff on these forums. Maybe Vadim veterans almost take it for granted by now, but this sort of support, care, and enthusiasm just doesn't exist in other places. I've rated Vincent to show my appreciation.

I wonder if Vadim have considered Crucial memory? I'm no expert, but their Ballistix modules seem to have a good reputation.

crucial are good, but are not very proactive on releasing higher density kits unfortunatelly. We had problems with Corsair before - their availability of kits wasnt great i remember - nightmare to work with and even worse when that memory was dying unfortunatelly
