Hi Everyone

For the Custom PCs can you choose a case that is not on the list and not at the Vadim store but a completely different case? For example a case that you can send to Vadim so they can build the computer in it.

Thanks

Welcome!
MrMookMook

I am only guessing but depending everything you want fits okay and Vadim thinks that the case would be good enough for their advanced technology I guess Yes.

You have me very very curious now, what case were you thinking of getting? if you havnt got the case I reckon Vadim could get it for you save sending it in. Anyway good luck Very Happy

I was thinking of this case; http://www.dvwarehouse.com/Apple-Case-for-Mac-Pro-922-8000-----NEW-p-35381.html. Don't tease me! I just love the way Apple design their products. But don't get me wrong I love the Windows Operating System and I think Mac OS X is terrible. But back to the topic at hand. So do you think that case be advanced enough? Oh and if you have ever seen the Mac Pro case you will know it is HUGE. If you look at the Apple website and see the dimensions you will see just how big it is.

Mr Mook Mook

Edit: Apple Official Mac Pro Page Design: http://www.apple.com/au/macpro/design.html

Apple Official Mac Pro Page Tech Specs with dimensions: http://www.apple.com/au/macpro/specs.html

P.S: And yes I am Australian. You may have got that from the AU in the Apple links.

I lived in Australia, Sydney-Balmain-Gladesville Then move to Brisbane, then finally Melbourne, I was a male nurse there. There is also DMC who is going there for good soon no doubt he will post a message to you.

Now regarding the Apple case I now would say NO doubt they would do it but you never know with Vadim, they have gone out there way to help people but I guess this time I guess the answer would be no. Those cases while I understand your like for them are quite old now, I nearly bought one an apple that is with that case over 2 years ago. Now what do you reckon do you think all my computer hardware would fit.. Piccies to follow

Well Fruim as I can tell by your pictures you have the Lian Li V1100. If so than yes all of your components would probably fit. Here is a comparison.

Mac Pro
Height: 511 mm
Depth: 475 mm
Width: 206 mm

Lian Li V1100
Height: 490 mm
Depth: 550 mm
Width: 210 mm

I am running out of time, I have to go to lunch so if you can do your own volume measurements then please do and I will update this with the measurement. So if you had a tiny bit of space you should be able fit your parts into the case.

And Fruim I think the case that you are thinking of is the Power Mac case which looks almost identical on the outside but on the inside it is completely different.

Hi dmc

I am from good, old Canberra. dmc how do you know my secret evil plan to disguise a Vadim as an Apple? But seriously you will love Sydney! Especially if you like the heat and like to swim and surf. So just to satisfy my curiosity why are going to live in Sydney? Just so you know if you look on the Australian News you will probably see Kevin Rudd (The PM) every single bloody day announcing another "committee" to that will report back to him in 12 months. I think he has announced over 100 committees Rolling Eyes

Oh and dmc as I presume you are a British Citizen you should easily be able to get Citizenship or at the least Permanent Residency. Especially if you have skills such as programming or something like that.

Good Luck

I love the picture of the pump being raised up to allow space for the tubing to go underneath - Vadim always improving - good to see?

I wish my case was in for some repairs as I would ask for that little development to be added to my case.

It's always annoyed me a little that the side panel had to be squeezed on!!

Cough cough - Vincent?????? Ponder

Everyone, thanks for your help thus far and now have another question. What do you think of this spec I have made? I do quite a bit of photoshopping, a lot of gaming and also a bit of Flash CS3. Also what is the TV Tuner I have selected like? It looks GREAT! Four TV Tuners!

Case: Mac Pro Case (If you do not know what this is check the thread.)
Cabling: Standard Cable Management
Cooling: LiquoCool Antarctic TX (CPU+Chipset+2VGA)
PSU: Gigabyte ODIN Pro 1200W PSU ( From the components store. Am I allowed to select something from the store for this?)
Motherboard: NVIDIA 780i (I got this so the SLI would work and the same question from the above; can you choose something that is not in the list but in the Vadim store.)
CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q9450 Retail (4x2.66GHz 1333FSB 12Mb)
CPU Cooling: none selected
Memory: (2x) G.Skill DDR2-800 PK 2x2048MB CL4 Dual Channel Kit
Graphics: (2x) BFG Nvidia 9800GX2 1024Mb PCIe2 HDCP
Hard Drive: 1TB Barracuda 7200.11 32mb Cache SATA II NCQ
Optical Drive 1: Lite-On LH-2B1S Blu-Ray SATA DVDR Black (Would this work with Vista 64 bit and is it any good?)
PCI card: WinTV-HVR-4000 Quad-mode TV tuner
PCIe Device: Abit AirPace PCIe 1x Wi-Fi Card
Sound Card: Integrated High Definition Audio with Digital Out
Operating System: Windows Vista Home Premium 64 bit DVD OEM
OS Extras: Support CD (Genesis CD)
Building: Saver Build (10-20 working days)
Overclocking: Extreme Overclocking (10-50% - CPU/Memory/VGA) (NOT RECOMMENDED)
Warranty: Premium 2 Year RTB Warranty and Lifetime Support
Free T-Shirt: Vadim Computers Baseball T-Shirt (M)
Packaging: What should I get as it would travel to Australia?

Price: $5448 USD (£2786)

Thanks for everything

Mr Mook Mook

Edit: What happened to all the RAM choices in the Gaming PC area? Yesterday there was lots and now there is only a few.

Hi MrMookMook

Thanks to everyone for helping out over the weekend, hope you all had a good one.

We have never worked with the Mac Pro Case so i'm afraid i can't assertain whether it will be possible to fit all those components and our watercooling package in there. We will happily give it a go for you, but the system will take longer than usual and we will have to charge extra for the R&D it will take to make the Mac Pro case work.

I would advise against the ODIN PSU. The testing we did on it proved that there were some very unstable and erratic problems with it in some cases. Go for the Coolermaster 1000w or the Enermax Galaxy 1000w instead.

The Nvidia 780i chipset boards do not come recommended as they aren't very robust. Go for 790i instead. If you are dead-set on having a 780i board, then go for the Striker II Formula and either watercool everything on the board (CPU+NB+SB+VRMs) or just the CPU (and VGA).

Quad SLi (2x 9800GX2s) has proven in both ours and Custom PC Magazines tests to be hot, unstable and to offer hardly any perfomance increase over a single GX2. In light of this and with the release of the new G280 card scheduled for this week, i advise that you either go for two of the G280 cards in SLi or just one 9800 GX2 paired with an Intel Chipset motherboard.

The Lite-On LH-2B1S Blu-Ray SATA DVDR Black should work with Vista 64.

If the order is being shipped to Australia then you will definitely need Heavy Duty Packaging.

The memory choices on our website have decreased due to us putting the supply of OCZ memory on hiatus. Please see here for more details: http://forum.vadim.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=3008

Hope this all helps! Type
