This tick man, (debt collector) was determined to collect from a family who had fallen behind with their payments.
He was new to the district and wanted to make an impression.
He found the close (hallway) with some difficulty but was more confused as he climbed the stairs and saw that many of the doors had no nameplate or number.
At last he was sure he had found the house in question, so he banged on the door.
A scruffy wee boy opened the door a crack "Is your Mammy in?" asked the man
"Naw, ma mammy went oot when my Daddy came in"
"Is your Daddy in then?"
"Naw, ma daddy went oot when ma big sister cam in"
"Is your big sister in?"
"Naw, ma big sister went oot when ah cam in"
"My Goad," said the the man"Whit kinda hoose is this"
"Naw, this isnae the hoose ,mister, this is the lavvie!!"
