lo all, couple of problems.

first off i have a samsung spinpoint and when the drive was new couple of months back eveything was zippy loading, extracting winrar movies files etc, now the drive is only quarter full yet its now slow as hell unzipping files and coming in and out of folders at times. defragged 3 times now Razz unshure as to the cause?

also i have 11 svchost.exe running in the taskmanager i know multiple instances are to be expected but i have 1 on 22.575k 1 on 28.296k 1 on 11.992 k and 1on 49.300k i have scanned with spyware doctor antivirus and come up with no virurses or spy/adware could this be the problem to the hardrivr running s slow, + is it most likely a virus ?

http://www.liutilities.com/products/wintaskspro/processlibrary/svchost/

Info on what svchost.exe is.

Also Please note: svchost.exe should not be disabled, required for essential applications to work properly.

Also might be worth having a look at http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/what-is-svchostexe-and-why-is-it-running/ and also http://www.blackviper.com/WinVista/servicecfg.htm too

Seems like the standard install of vista defaults to loads of useless sh1te running in the background to eat your memory :p
