I had a problem with my computer where the P5N32 SLI SE Deluxe board was cooked by some form of surge. So i replaced it with a cheapish gigabyte 650 chipset board and it was all working fine. I transported it home from another location, and now it won't boot, no beeps no fans turning, just a light from USB mice etc, that would light normally when the pc was off. If i turn the PSU off at the back and let the lights fade on the mouse, and turn the PSU back on again adn try starting the computer the PSU lights up (it's meant to) but instantly cuts out again. Any ideas?
Back to basics mate, dissconnect everything, and then reconnect it making sure everything is secure. If it was working I would imagine that something has just came loose.
i'll give that a bash and let you know what the outcome is, i already disconencted the 7900's and motherboard power and HDD and Optical. took each stick of ram out in turn, and the processor coolers sitting correctly. it all seems to be in order. Reset the CMOS. I'm wondering if the board could have been fried by a loosely sitting soundcard.
Right i disconnected everything, i forgot how you short out a 28 pin psu to test it works, can't remember which wires to cross. but no joy i recnnected just the 24 pin and 4 pin to the motherboard, and same just on for a second then off. Then tried with just 20 pins connected the same just on for a second and off. Any ideas sounds like a dead mobo to me
It's doing my head in! I'm almost certain it's something to do with the motherboard. Are there any motherboards which aren't on the really expensive side that i can replace it with assuming it doesn't just start working again. Also any of these replacement motherboards got a Northbridge that'll fit a C19 NB waterblock? The highest overclock i got with the C19 was 3.35ghz with water on a E6700, it was hopeless.
hi, do you use a surge protector connect to the pc? Silly question but have you tried plugging it in to a different wall socket.
Another idea is to earth the machine, could be something of this nature cutting it out. I need to use a wire attached to my pc connected to the metal desk legs of my table otherwise the pc will reboot when i touch it.

need a few more details before i can suggest a new board.
have you water cooled the new MOBO
price that you would like to spend
what brand of water block on the CPU, northbridge and southbridge.
also if you get a surge on the power it can destroy your surge protector so as suggested try plugging the system directly in to the wall.
some power packs after a surge go into a protection mode and can some times work intermittently work. I would try to borrow a power pack before thinking of replacing a MOBO
Yeh tried earthing it, and nothing really i just think it's a bit of a useless one. i think the problem is dust, it was left uncovered for several weeks while i was in hospital. Cos i was working on it and forgot to cover it.
The NB cooler is Swiftech, not sure on teh model, but it has two black thumb screws holding it to the C19 and the fixation points on the waterblock are sort of triangular with rails for multifit. There are two fo these metal tabs and they are diagonally across from each other. It's from yourselves Vadim.
As for price i'd be willing to pay anything within reason for a good overclocking board, doesn't need to be up to date, just stable and better than the NF4 from before.
The 650 mobo (new one isn't water cooled zip tied the NB block above the board as it won't fit the holes.
I've connected the grounds on the PSU and it seems to run fine when it's not plugged into the motherboard so it seems it's a mobo problem
So looks like i'll be buying a new mobo.
Could you guys at vadim message me with a quote to upgrade from a E6700 to Q9450 + change SLI 7900GTX + Waterblocks to 9800GX2 + the motherboard obviously, to what you would recommend (obviously it would need to be pci-e2.0)
One thing i must point out though: Seeing as you live quite far away from our offices and you purchased your system before Heavy Duty Packaging was rolled out, make sure you pack your system extremely well before you ship it to us as it might undergo quite a bumpy ride on the way here!
