Thought it was time to lose my virginity to overclocking, ive got my Q6600 to 3.33GHz with a voltage of 1.280V and 1480FSB.
Its currently stable and ive run the tests, however temperatures seem to be a bit high. When testing with OCCT the core 1 and 2 reach to 70 degress while the other cores reach around 62 degrees. From what ive read, its rather toasty.
Currently at idle:
Core 1 - 47
Core 2 - 47
Core 3 - 42
Core 4 - 43
Specs include:
1 x Antec P182 Gun Metal Black (No PSU)
1 x Standard Cable Management
1 x Premium Cooling System (2-4 Fans with digital controller)
1 x Asus P5K Premium Wi-Fi (Intel P35 - 1333 FSB Conroe/Penryn)
1 x Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Retail (4x2.40GHz 1066FSB 8Mb) 95W
1 x Scythe Infinity Heatpipe Cooler (all CPUs)
1 x OCZ DDR2-1150 2x1024MB FlexXLC Edition Dual Channel Kit
1 x BFG Nvidia 8800GTS New OC 512Mb PCIe HDCP
I think this is going to be my limit for the Q6600, would have thought I could have got it higher, trying to get it to around 3.6Ghz or I could just be too adventurous.
Im wondering whether these temperatures seem to high for these setting?
Whether I could go further or to reduce it?
Cheers
Will
you could get a better fan with greater airflow for your scythe. They come with quite fans, which are ok but do not give the best airflow.
Another thing you could try is getting an exhaust fan under your 8800gts card to try to reduce the heat emitted coming off these cards. It might help....I have one under mine (reduces air temp inside case...a little )
Hi I use Everest Ultimate to view system information as regards to using it to read your fan speeds this will work if the fans are connected via a 4 pin.
I am amusing this will work with the T-balancer installed, if not I know a lot of people on the forum have the T thing installed and will correct me otherwise.
Also check your Motherboards makers site to see if they provide any software monitoring programs.
