Dad is at hospital with my nan, and will be for a while.
I have just managed to turn the pc, almost right round, and now have a head on view of these studs, although, they arent studs, they are screws with a slot for a crosshead screwdriver!
The irony..

Could you give all off us a picture of case mite help with any advice
I've tried getting into the case, but it has these sort of stud things that keep it together. I have tried and allen key, of the right size, with no prevail as it is a sort of cone shape, inside the stud, which the allen key obviously can't grip onto. The sides of the studs are like a nut. I tried to twist the stud with plyers, but the sides are at an angle, so the plyers just slip off.
I am trying to remember how my dad got into the case when the ram chip was dislodged. I might be missing something but it doesn't seem possible (apart from the way that my dad did it, obviously).
Can anyone help?
Oh, and sorry for tripple posting

It sounds to me like you have an old style dell/mesh case. If this is the case (no pun intended) try and wedge off the plastic facia on the front and that should hopefully reveal all the screws to open the case right up.
It has screws at the back and all i need to do is unscrew them but the screwdriver that ive got keeps slipping in my hand since it is not a very good shape.

Remember you will only need to open up the left hand side of the case
