I have an ASUS P5K Deluxe motherboard and a socket 775 q6600 CPU and would like to watercool both so that I can overclock the CPU. I've never watercooled before so I'd like to know exactly what I need and your recommendations for which parts I should buy.

Any help would be appreciated.

thanks r3pta, i have a general idea of what ill need, question though, the northbridge controls cpu and memory and the southbridge controls sound & graphics.. so is it necessary to cool the southbridge if im just running a standard 8800gts.

i was hoping more for recommendations on what brands / models i should go for when choosing the parts as theyre all unfamiliar to me.

No need to cool the southbridge at all. In fact, the P35 runs really cool on air anyway, don't see why you would even need to buy watercooling for the nb. I would just buy a CPU cooling kit.

There are kits you can buy i know that XSPC make good kits but it really all depends on what you want and are willing to do.

if you want a good cooling with a simple install then kits ares your best bet but if you dont mind "hooking" it up yourself then the parts i would suggest Swiftech for cpu, EK for res and laing pump. Radiators i would go with either blastflow or thermochill.

If you ask EU, he will tell you go for a Swiftech kit. personally i would buy parts separatelly and build the system. what case do you have?

i have an antec p180 which i bought on the recommendations from custom pc. now for some reason my q6600 runs at 60deg~ under load, and ive repasted once, and im using a tuniq 120 tower to cool it.

what i want to do is overclock my cpu to 3ghz and i cant do that till i lower my temps.

im definitely going to buy the lian-li v2100b next month when my paycheck comes in and im hoping that will help with temps before i resort to water cooling but id like to get some info beforehand.

lian-li v2100 is not better than the antec aircooled setup unfortunatelly. if you plan to buy the 2100, then definitelly get decent watercooling parts, start with the d5 pump and swiftech apogee cpu block.

Not necessarilly. I bought the kit as it was highly rated and easy to install as it had all the necessary parts (clips, radiator mounts, etc...). After that first instalaltion I now feel a lot more confortable in doing more stuff... as you know I have ordered a 2x120cm Blastflow Extreme radiator and a few other goodies that I will be playing with before getting enough money for a Vadim Razz Very Happy (well, I may still buy a few more parts before that but..)

(the only thing I really need at the moment are: a bigger monitor (all my oponents are very small at the moment), a moreresponsive mouse and a bigger HDD)
