ive been told that the artifacting could be to do will my gfx card not getting anuff power.

normally its clocked too high or is too hot. if you have them watercooled, then try to downclock them a bit to their stock speeds. Not all brands(XFX, BFG, EVGA) will test the overclcoked cards properly. We had very good experience with BFG OC cards - no artifacts ever due to overclocking - looks like they do proper testing and the ones that cant keep up are sold as non-overclocked...

temp 42c idle clock speeds 655/1125. thats how it can to me... its very annoying to have flashing when playing colin mcrae dirt.

is that the EVGA card? try to downclock it to 630 (stock speeds) if it doesnt help, try to downclock the memory a bit too.
