Hi,

This is my first post so sorry if this has been raised before (did try to find out!).

I've got my Vadim PC on order and it will have one 8800GTS card which will hopefully be overclocked by Vadim during the build process. My question is this, I intend to buy another 8800GTS in the future to run in SLI mode and would like to know if the second card must be overclocked exactly the same as the first.

The reason I ask is that over time the manufacturers overclock their cards anyway so in 6 months time it'll probably be impossible to find an 8800GTS running at anything close to the stock 500Mhz.

If anyone has any experience on this it will be a great help.

Thanks.

Well I'm not an expert but...it doesn't matter if the graphics card you buy in 6 months is clocked higher than the one you have in your system, because if it should create a problem having two graphics cards at different speeds you could always underclock it. The problem would come if the newer graphics cards ran at lower speeds, and wouldn't overclock to reach the speeds of the GFX card which you are buying in your system now.

Vadim uses BFG cards which are all pre overclocked, I dont know if they overclock them further, but if not then as long as you buy the same card again you should be fine.

They don't overclock them further...at least they didn't for me so I assume that is normal practice.

The faster card slows down to the slower clocked card I think, from there you can overclock them at the same time.

...I think

Cheers guys, at least I can be sure that as long as I get a card from the same manufacturer it should work fine.

All I have to do now is wait for my PC to be ready Very Happy
