well, my turn now...

yesterday I clicked the "turn off" button on windows and waited for the PC to switch off... when it did I got up and started walking way... just to hear the fans and all the stuff come alive but no lights nor video?... just watercooling stuff, hdd and fans.... not sure if something else. I pressed the power button and nothing... only by switching off the power in the back of the ups it worked. I then switched it on after a while and it all started again... it was too late to look at possible problems but I would like to know if someone had something like this happening?

Thanks for any help.

An unlikely scenario but you never know!

You don't have any switches or sensor that designed to check if the case is closed or not that might be faulty or a bios setting that looks for this switch/sensor but is not there?

Normally this thing would happen on boot up rather than at shut down on such system that have this "feature".

The T-balancer will sometimes run for a few seconds or even minutes after the system has shut down to allow the system to cool, meaning the fans will still spin.
Did the system switch off then back on or did the fans carry on spinning after the system has shut down?

Thanks Ben... I will have to look at the T-Balancer... that's a good sugestion.

It all stopped and restarted.. or so I think as I was so surprised... but if I switch the power off from the mains and switch it on again it shouldn't automatically restart the fans and hdds... also my iMon has no light, no screen and no lights on the power button... really weird...

well, still is an nvidia chipset Evil or Very Mad

I am testing a nvidia 750 reference board at home now and i had some weird issues:

The q9450 was overclocked to 3.8ghz (8x475FSB) nice and 'stable' (run 4 instances of prime95 for 24 hours with 3dmark on highest settings). i had it running for a few weeks.

Last Saturday morning i thought - time to do some playing while my wife is still asleep, press the power button - nothing happens. press again - nothing. checked all the power - nothing was wrong. reset the BIOS, nothing. then a few minutes later the machine just starts up. as i had reset the BIOS, i went to load the saved 8x475 profile, saved the settings and again - the system didnt want to start again. i had to reset the BIOS again and start overclocking again step by step - 400FSB first, then 450 and then 475. only then all worked well again. Either way - not the best impression of the reference board and i will go back to the intel p35

Well, the day after i replied I got home so tired that I had something to eat and fell asleep on the couch.

The following day I got home and.. presto it switch itself on and worked. When switching off... the same problem. Left it...

Yesterday the same. I noticed that the iMon has no lights... and this may be the faulty bit... as I am almost finishing my other PC I will get that going and will not spend too much on this one for the time being as it was going to be disassembled anyway...

Thanks for the help. If I do find what is not working I will let you know.
