A slight update:

It is now flooding the web that it is in fact the new 45nm Quad Core QX9650, not the DDR3 motherboards, that has a low FSB wall and struggle to go above 450-460Mhz. looks like dropping the multiplier and getting a massive FSB is a no go! Evil or Very Mad

Also in preparation for my CoolerMaster CPU Cooler review, which should arrive sometime today, I will be modifying my watercooling setup to accommodate them. That means low profile tubing setup on the MOSFET waterblocks, and my current CPU waterblock taken out of the original loop, into another dedicated one, for easy removal and testing.

Pictures of my updated setup will be up sometime between Wednesday night/Thursday morning, so stay tuned!! Bravo! Mr. Green

Right.. If you look REALLY hard, you may find the testing rig within the mess that is my room at the moment... Rolling Eyes

Had a few spills on my motherboard when topping up the second reservoir.. a combination of tissue paper and hairdryer sorted that out. Laughing

Also you may have noticed the Aqua-Computers CPU water block on the table. I purchased it to try it out as it had some interesting design ideas, but it turned out to be not as good in practice, increasing my CPU temperature by around 4 degrees at load. Someone/party might want to sponser me with a few more CPU water block samples to test out!! *hint hint* Embarassed

And here is the updated loop setup:

Now it is MUCH easier to swap out the CPU cooler as opposed to having it connected to the NB/MOSFET loop, into both Air or Water-cooled solutions.
I will be extending my tubing on the CPU loop so I can place the radiator next to my window, for some nice cool air from the freezing outside!! Mr. Green

WOOHOO!! Hurray! Hurray! party

http://www.custompc.co.uk/benchmarks

I'm really surprised a 5Mhz FSB and some memory optimisation/BIOS tweaks made that much of an difference... Cool

Really want to rip out my Vadim SSDs and benchmark using them with Windows XP installed... that will most definitely reach 3rd position! Very Happy Very Happy

Oh, and that system Blue Screened promptly after I uploaded my score. Shocked Pink Elephant ROFL

Well, after some more tweaking and a BIOS update later, I was able to boot into Windows at 4.7Ghz:

But to be able to run the CPC benchie I needed to lower the speed to 4.62Ghz:

With that overclock, I JUST nudged into 3rd on the CPC Benchmark Leaderboard!! Mr. Green Mr. Green

Once again, a little link to the chart for your convenience.

CPC Leaderboard

I believe this is the absolute best I can do with a watercooling setup and my current hardware... let see what will happen when I get my hands on newer gears in the future. Cool

very well done EF! now just to wait a bit for some SSD drives with a good RAID controller and maybe you can make it to number 1?

Just a thought - I hope the cleaner in your halls of residence is not reporting you for making a bomb or some such!

I think climbing to second is possible with SSD+RAID controller, but number 1 is much harder as there is a much larger gap between first and second. Also first is using iRAM, which is much faster then SSD, as it it basically using much faster DDR2 RAM modules as storage hard drive. Confused

Probably nit-picking - but if it's the older iRAM - it's not DDR2 but DDR on SATA. The newer iRAM - GC-RAMDISK uses DDR2 and SATA II. Doesn't say which one he is using.

Still, it would be a hard one to beat. I wonder how the RAMDISK compares with HyperOS' ramdrives. (A 360GB RAID-0 system of theirs is on sale for over £26,000). Sports car anyone? Laughing
