my dear forumites, lets keep this thread 'on-topic' as much as possible as it is a sticky. i am a guy myself and i know how easy it is to get distracted... #cough# Dominique!
Name: Stuart Geach
Age: 32 (nearly 33)
Sex: Male (just in case Fruim thinks 'Stuart' is Gaelic for Sarah or something
)
Occupation: Paraplanner, which is just an industry term for 'trainee financial adviser'
Moved around loads but spent the vast majority of my life in Scotland, currently (for the last five years) in Manchester.
Have more been a gamer than a software/hardware dabbler. But ditched consoles for PC Gaming long before most people did and have a fairly good (but no way near say Eu, Jk, Vincent etc) knowledge of PCS. However have always been willing to expand my knowledge and as such bought a Vadim with a view to playing around with it a lot more in the future, cos she's fine as is right now!
Addicted (literally) to Half Life 2 and all the spin offs, follow ons, mods etc and am therefore in awe of Saboath who undertsands it far more than I do.
Some time poet (albeit bad one), occasional joke teller and generally try to assist but am out knowledged by most people so resort to spam mostly!

Age: 40ish
Occupation: Technology Strategist for an "evil empire" or so I'm told
Hobbies: Gotta be honest I don't get much time these days... My daughter and wife obviously, technology, scifi (Baybylon 5 is still the daddy by a long chalk!!!) , reading historical novels and commentary, ancient history and the origins of Albion, the Isle of the mighty. Gaming enthusiast of many years covering everthing from early consoles and home computers to PnP role playing.
Name: Guy
Age: 35 - but with the body of a 34 year old.
Occupation: 3D scanning for TV and Film - if you think that sounds glamorous then try standing about on a freezing cold soound stage for 16 hours or so
Bona-fide geek (I've done it all over the years - RPGs, miniature painting - I kid you not) and yet quite new to all this PC building/modding lark - I try to cover up my geekiness by donning a crash helmet occasionally and riding around on a sportsbike getting my knee down, but it doesn't really work. I just become a bike geek/bore then.
Name: Kyle
Age: 27 and a mental age of 72
Sex: Aye, would be nice.
Occupation: Quality Control Geophysicist and impromptu crew IT Doctor somewhere in the Sahara desert. It pays well!
My first computer, well it wasn't mine but I was playing with it in 1984 with an IBM PC of some description with those proper floppy floppy disks then my own was an Amiga 600, modded that, got the Amiga 1200 and modded that into a tower, and then I went into laptops for 8 years (no modding, too expensive!).
Now I got a proper desk, I'm in the search for my first desktop PC in nearly a decade! Something along the lines of a dual Xeon, and some sort of SSD in RAID-0 when prices are a bit more sensible!
I'm generally idle on IRC a lot (since '94), having run a network in the past, do a lot of web stuff and right now waiting for phpBB forums to actually release a public-ready version 3.
Age: 16
Currently at college!
Enjoys: tennis, going to the gym, playing games late into the night (mainly FPS), tuning/buying computer hardware, listening to music and going out with mates.
Been into gaming since there was an Amstrad 1512 in the house around age 6 (CGA graphics, 512KB RAM). Moved onto an Amstrad CPC464 (modem noises) before a 386, 486SX, Sega Megadrive and currently Alienware P4 and XBOX360. The PC's around six years old so I'm in the market for a new 'un.
In terms of games, I grew up on 'adventure' games (Space Quest, King's Quest anyone ?), loved the arcade and currently prefer games where you can beat up/blow up your friends; e.g. beat-em-ups (Street Fighter 2, many of the SNK/Capcom releases) and FPS (Doom, Unreal Tournament; currently Halo 3 on XBOX and looking forward to trying Crysis, Team Fortress 2 and UT3). There's nothing funny about that, I'm a psychiatrist trust me.
Hmm that sounds rather suspicious ! I'm a psychiatrist, I don't deal with legs. Or marks. Or marks on legs. Unless the mark is a sign from the Devil telling you to eradicate all those blue-eyed impostors....
